94 celica jerks

Please help me solve this problem. It's driving me nuts. I have a 1994 celica ST with 140k miles, auto transmission. Evertime the car switch into gear, it'll jerk or kicks.
Also it seems to lack power taking off. The car rev up really high before it jerks.
I know that it's just an ST and it's weak, but one day on my way home from work, my lane was closing up and i was next to a 91 corolla auto. I floored it to pass him up but he
also floored his car and i couldn't even keep up. What's up with that???

I was told that there is a vacum hose leak somehere.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tranny fluid is fine. It jerks the most in the cold.

If it was a manual, i can hear the car switch gears and hear the engine rev

is the engine jerking or is the trans slipping? a traans can slip out of gear if you have a bad engine mount. perhaps a tad more info would be welcome.

Transmission fluid ok huh?

It could still be transmission giving up from previous abuse.
