If you look on the build plate in the engine bay, the code for the diff shoudl start with a T.
That means it's a T series (6.7") diff.
LSD for the T series was very rarely specified on Toyota cars when new, so finding one second hand is very hard.
TRD used to make a real nice LSD for this but have stopped producing it.

Another option is to swap over to the stronger Supra rear axle housing.
The Supra used the F series (7.5") and they had LSD as an option.
Some of the Toyota 4WD's also used this diff, so a 4WD shop can help you find an LSD to put into the Supra rear axle housing.
I haven't actually done this myself but I'm reasonbly sure the Supra and Celica had the same suspension mounting points - measure to make sure.

Oops, forgot to mention something.
The Supra has IRS and rear disc brakes.

Disc brakes means you need to use the correct brake bias valve (drums elf servo, so they only need a little bit of pressure, discs needs lots of pressure).

The IRS can be fitted by measuring the 4 bolt holes in the chasis where the IRS K-frame bolts in.
Drill these in your chassis.
Accuracy is important.
Be real careful of aliging the bolt holes or you will steer crooked.
Cut off the panhard rod mount.
Attach K-frame.
Sounds harder than it is

Also, the RA65 Celica LB and Manual Coupe have the same rear end as the Supra.
Here's a list of diffs from other Toyota cars.
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...tepho/diff.htm
(towards the end).

If all this sounds too complicated, then look at a MA4# Supra rear end.
It's a solid axle instead of IRS but has an F series diff.
I'm not certain but I think the suspension mounts are in the same place as your car (4# and 6# have pretty much the same rear chassis frame rails).
Still have the hassle of converting to rear disc.

You could also use an LSD from an AE86 Corolla. They also have 6.7" rear ends and are solid axle.

I went an easier route."Kinda" I was given an 85 with the IRS so i pulled that out pulled my diff and modified my chassis to except the IRS. Car ran great drove fine till last night when the motor blew up. So after all the work and time i have put into the car i am done trying to fix it so if anyone wants one come get it i can get 400 for it at the junk yard so if you want it 400 takes it. Better to e-mail me joe_83_2000@excite.com needs to be gone by next week.
