What type of engine dost your friend want to sell you. Ok to start of you need a good platform, which you already have, and since you wnat to turbo it go with the 3sgte engine. its the same engine that goes into a celica alltrac or mr2 turbo. and no you cant make your car awd. as far as doing it yourself, it depends on how much experience you have working on cars. i'v done this swap twice with success and in my opinion is was easy but the wiring whould be very very hard for an novis.

JDM engines are usually more powerful due to lesser emmision restrictions. tyhe fuel map may be different and japanese car run on higher octain ( i think). start doing research cause all the info you need is somewhere in these forms.

just buy a whole swap; engine, fwd tranny ( i'm using the 1996 celica gt tranny), wiring harness, AFM and ECU. it will bolt right in to your engine bay with out mods. its an easy fit.

i like ebay for everything but engines i know they have but u cant trust everyone on there i actually found a place here in quebec that get imported engines! its 1300$ US for Motor
Transmission
ECU
Distributor
Alternator
Complete Intake&Exhaust Manifold
A/C Power Steering Pump
Turbo

that a 1991 engine to 1994 tho i think the
6th gen 3sgte looks nicer! think it would also fit they have that for 1800$ with Motor
Transmission
ECU
Distributor
Alternator
Turbo

if it can fit i am the happiest guy in the world if not OH well no prob ill just get the one 5th gen and be as happy! a 3sgte is a 3sgte :P anyways they give me the tranny with it but they have the hydrolic tranny for the AWD i wont need that cuz my car is FWD so i am gonna sell it and get a tranny for my car with that money!BEfore swpping u guys think i should forge the engine?
