85 Celica Fuel Pump

howdy folks,

I have an 85 Celica GT Coupe with a 22R.

I noticed a little gas leaking somewhere around the front right (passenger side) corner of the gas tank. It looks like it may be coming form on top somewhere.

Could this be the fuel pump leaking?

How do you access the fuel pump on an 85?

Thanks for advice.

Drop your tank and look at it... it could be rust or something else. I think when you drop your tank you can then access the fuel pump.

Probably just one of the hoses between the tank, the filler air vent, the fuel pump and the vapour separator.
Remove the trim in the boot (aka trunk) near the fuel filler and inspect the condition of the hoses and their clamps.
After 21 years a lot of those hoses have gone hard and are beginning to crack.

Less likely but it could also be where the fuel level sender bolts on top.
