Question How do I compress hatch struts on my 89 Celica

I am in the process of replacing the hatchback struts on my 1989 Celica GT. I cannot keep the struts compressed long enough for them to fit in. They seem to be under a tremendous amount of pressure. Does anyone have any tips on how to install these things?

thanks,
david

i'm not sure what you mean. why do you need to compress the struts. when i did mine it just went in, no problem. or do you mean compress the springs on the strut.

Question

I just had to raise the hatch back higher in order for the struts to fit in... Stupid me, I didn't think of the simple stuff... however the ass who sold me the struts on e-bay sold me ones that were to big so I am still shit out of luck... I give up..
