Unhappy Car won't start

I have a 1993 Toyota Celica GT.

I was driving down the freeway the other day and the car just died on me. I tried to start it but it just turned over again and again and wouldn't start. Long story short, I'm not getting spark to the spark plugs, so I took off the distributor cap to see if the rotor was turning, and it wasn't. So two things come to mind:

The wiring harness for the distributor is shorting out somewhere ~
or
The distributor is dead ~

How do I test the wiring harness? What are the voltages that I am supposed to look for?
How do I test the distributor?

Thanks guys!
Rick

If the distributor rotor doesn't turn when you crank the engine, then the timing belt broke.

As OEMonkey states, if the rotor is not turning, check for a broken timing belt. The good news is the engine should be non-interference, meaning the valves don’t hit the pistons when the belt breaks. If the belt, now is the time to check out the other parts like waterpump, idler pulleys, etc for wear.

Sweet. Thanks for the replies, guys. Now I just need to know how to find out what engine I have so I know which part of my manual to read to replace the timing belt. (if it's the 2se, or 3fse, or what)

Thanks!
Rick

Could be a 5SFE. If so, this engine was used in the Camry and other models. Check the engine block location right under the coolant intake flange for the letters 5S.
