Question 1989 Celica GT Hatchback Struts. Where can I get a pair???

I have tried in vein to get a hold of a pair of hatchback struts for my 89 Celica GT. The hatchback is sooo heavy to lift with blown struts. I ordered a pair on e-bay, turns out they were to big. I then went down to my local auto parts store (carquest) and had them order me a pair. The pair they tried to sell me where the EXACT same ones I got from e-bay?!?!??! What is going on here? I have the original blown struts and they are noticeably smaller than the other 2 sets.

I called a Toyota dealer and they told me they want $109.00 for each strut! Does ANYONE have any idea where I can get a pair of 89 Celica GT Hatchback Struts for a reasonable price? Used or New, as long as they will hold up the hatchback...

Thanks,
David

I tried 2 auto parts stores already, both stores order what they say are the correct struts, but they are to long. I need a pair of used ones.

Anyone out there have a pair that are functional for sale?

I think he's talking about the hatch supports. There are generic ones to be had, some are adjustable, some you just have to order by length. Do a search on google or ebay.

oh, my mistake. i wasn't sure what he meant. in that case, just measure the one's you have and compare it to the one's at an auto parts store. i know the one's around my place usually have a section of struts to chose from. as far as finding used one's, they're probably not going to work to well because the gas tends to leak out after a long period of time. i had a supra with the same problem and i just used a peace of wood to hold up the trunk while i worked on it.
