2000 Celica door lock problem

Just purchased 2000 celica for my daughter. Both of the front door locks do not work with the console buttons. The rear hatch does work though. When I use the console button I can see the button on the door lock move ever so much but will not lock. Any thoughts? Also can you tell if my car has the keyless entry function. If so then I would look into purchasing the correct FOB. VIN number is JTDDR32T8Y0056795, MODEL 22T230L-BLPSHA.
Great site so far, as I have browsed for an hour.

Thanks, Rick

there might be some lose wiring under the console buttons.
did your car come with a remote, because if it didn't then the car probably don't have an alarm system installed
thats what happened to me, my car didnt came with a remote so i realized that the car don't have any alarm system
hope your daughter enjoys driving the celica.
