Does 3SGE engine require antifreeze to run?

I have attempted to start my Celica without antifreeze in system? Does the ECU sense there is no fluids and therefore doesn't fire?

The cold start injector injects fuel and the car starts for a few moments then dies. There have been a few suggestions for a fix but none have worked. I am now thinking there could be an issue with the curcuit opening relay that controls the fuel pump. An earlier response to my of my threads indicated fuel pump pressure could be an issue. As I have a second Celica I will harvest the relay and see what happens? I am also checking the vacuum hose connections etc. and for other vacuum leaks.

You might just have a bad fuel pump. I had this same issue with my 85 Celica when I got it. It would start then just die. I changed the fuel pump and that problem went away.
