Gen1 3sge 1st gen mods...

Hello... i am new here!!!

I recently bought a blown 3sge 1st gen from a local junkyard here in orlando,fl.. and i want to rebuild it. The engine got out of a 1986 GTS/ manual with 159k miles in it. Never rebuild before, the toyota factory bearing were starting to get bronze color, and actually the #1 rod bearing was already out of the place. Carbon build-up is another big thing, but i dont mind that much because i want to full rebuild it, and use it as my Senior High School project. I dont have a gts celica .. only a 3sfe 89 gt.. and a 89 sedan corolla that i want to hook up and swap the 3sge on it.

I am here to ask for common mods for the 3sge (put in mind that i am not rich. i go to school and work part time, so 70% of the money that i get i am going to put it on the project) ... for that reason i need to find the best quality/price available.

I want to put at least.. Headers, intake, port the head, HC pistons, good quality rods, lightweight flywheel/good clutch, and camshafts/with adjust sprockets.

I dont know were to find the headers for NA... and the HC pistons but if i cant find them here in the US for a reasonable price i would try to check with some friends in puerto rico (they have a lot of toyota stuff, modifications, and cheapper prices, they are all "speed freaks" )

With the cam i would like to know what cam profile would be better than stock and could be use as a daily driver. I want to get the cam custom grind.

Any suggestions .. please help me find the parts because ive been trying to look for it.. but almost nothing shows up for 3sge 1st gen... a lot of 4age and 3sget stuff, but no 3sge NA 1st gen.

Thanks for eveything...

ok, heres the scoop on the gen 1, the ports are hugely too big and the engineers had to figure a way to give it a low end without having yamaha recast the head, they inventid tvis so it would pull air through 2 holes in a plate on the intake side, each port had 2 holes, one had a valve to open in hi rpm and the other was always open, and they put a small profile cam in it to help out, did wonders for the low end but the hi end suffered. The intake manifold is geared for low end also but you can search around for the 3sgte head off a gen1 or a later head with the smaller intake ports, most noted feature is the fuel path after it leaves the injector, the big port head has a straight ditch and the small port has a fan shape, The intakes and tvis plate will swap on both heads, you have to have the tvis plate or a spacer of same thickness to align the intake, simply hogg out the plate, trash the valves and plug up all the shaft holes and get a small port head and watch the injector holes for same design and hole size, I have pics on all of this
