Need New Engine!!

hey everybody im new to this site, and my fiance has a '94 toyota celica. it had a 1.8 liter engine but it locked up. i was just wondering if anybody on here knows where i can get another one or maybe a 2.2 liter, i would like for it to be fairly new or new and fairly cheap if at all possible lol, but anyways plz help. thanks

my advice is to stay away from used 7A-FE's (1.8L) especially 93-95 ones the later 96-97 version isn't as bad but be careful in the used ones. If you were too look in to a used engine i would count on doing a rebuild.... or at least the rings. Search 7A-FE and oil burning in the corolla forum you'll see what and where the problems are.

you could go 2.2 (5S-FE) but your into changing the harness, transmission, and all the other bits along with that...

ok, well would a new 1.8 liter be okay or what? i mean i just need to get it running for her and i dont know where to get a good motor that is going to last a few years, i mean she wont be racing it or anything, just an everyday driver, so please let me know what you think now. just a good 1.8 liter where i wont have to change harness or tranny or anything. please guys/gals, i need some help!

your easiest would be to another motor the same that is in it now and just put that in. no wiring just bolt it in.

i dont know where you could find one im in Canada just check around at junkyards maybe or an auto recycler

you're best off just replacing the same engine. there's no reason to stay away from the engines, there are plenty of people running that engine in their celica with no problems
