Toyota celica speedometer quits

I have a 2000 Toyota Celica Gt after driving car approx. 20 minutes or so the speedometer quits working. Let the car sit for a few hours and the sppedometer works again however will stop working again after 20 minutes . Could this be a relay or some kind of sensor if they are used in this car
