Dropping my 2000 celica GT

hi everyone!!

now that spring/summer is FINALLY here, i'm planning on dropping my car ....BUT who out there in this forum has actually done it??

i have 18" rims (already on) and just bought H & R lowering springs.

i DON'T wanna slam it, but i DO wanna drop it just enough to make it look better than stock.

does anyone have any experience with this?

also, i heard that springs will "settle" therefore allow for more of a drop than originally expected. i guess with 18" rims, i don't want to have it lowered too much that it rubs, or is prone to underbody scratching over bumps, or i damage the car somehow.

i was also wondering if it would be okay to play around with the front-to-back lowering ratio....especially since with stock, the back looks so much higher than the front.

any feedback would be helpful. thanks.

well i have a 5th gen celi and just got it drop recently 1.5" front and back.. as 5th gen looks pretty low in stock after the aftermarket springs are on i am suprise its not as low as it should be =) i was hoping it was lower but its not bad 1 finger gap front none @ back beacuse my subs and the spoiler is super heavy -_-

anyway even if u drop ur Celi too low then u can always buy Camber kit ^____^ and therefore adjust the toe angle then ur tire wont touch nething =) well the choice is urz but for 18" u should be able to drop it 1.7" no problem but that is all i know, but correct me if i am wrong =)

Different springs settle different amounts and at different rates. As a rule, cold wound springs settle less. Intrax is notorious for settleing to the point of sagging. What kind of drop are you looking for? Is it mainly for looks or for performance? How much do you wanna spend?

It takes a while for the spring to settle, different springs have different settling periods. My APEX springs didn't settle to their final position till a couple og months after I bought them. And the driver side went down before the passenger side since it's almost always me alone in the car.

As far as the broad is concerned, drop the car with any springs available for the celi, I have the lowest drop, you'll be fine.
