4th Generation 89 celica repair questions

1989 toyota celica GT-S

im not old enough for a license, but love cars.
Anyways I got into a car accident and i wrecked my front end...thats the long story short
I bought a chiltons manual and I am still waiting for it to come in, should come in this week.
I was wonder about the headlight, I know it has a motor in it which makes it go up and down but where do i look in the chilton book to show how to fix that.

and also, since i have a 89 celica gts, i can use any celica in the same generation and same trim for donor parts ie. st gt celica parts can fit on my gts. i need the hood fender and front end.

eh its pretty bad, but engine runs. I just bought the hood and right fender today, so basically no turning back. i might take some pictures today, ill post it up asap, hopefully. the only thing damaged is the right light, right fender, hood, and front end, and the windshield got a crack(like a rock crack) on it. i guess its worth fixing, its still runnable, just needs the exterior worked on, i plan to put some money in it anyways.

you know that black furry cardboard thingy on the back of the hood, is it safe to take that off and leave it off? or will something happen. theres a black tube/wire thingy behind the hood thats for the windshield cleaner fluid. would that get melted? is there a way to keep that wire protected and have that cardboard thing off too??

i've had mine off for years, and its never caused a problem. its only on hot days that i notice heat waves coming from the hood. as far as melting anything, you should be ok.

once you take the tabs off, its a little hard to put them back on. they are old and tend to break, so if you're going to put them back on, be really careful when taking og the tabs.

the story is that, the car was parked at someones hosue, and someone thought it shouldnt be there, they called the towing place, and the towing place called the police and the police called me, since i reported it stolen. I went to the place and had to pay $180, 100 out of my pocket and 80 from my sisters. im flat broke now but im gunna get a job at mcdonalds soon.
and i plan on selling the tv and whatever content is in my car. get a little extra cash to replace the hood, again.... ill try for pictures today, its just that its been getting dark earlier than usually so its hard to get a good picture. =] im just happy i found my car.

when my car was returned, my hood was bent again, they tried to bungee cord the hood down. they bent my passanger fender to get the door open.-(the passssenger door wouldnt open since the accident and i was planning to replace that fender anyways)-, they cracked my windshield some more, and used all my precious gas... im just glad they didnt strip it. phewww

Hmm, i think i have a problem with my gauges... as you know my speedometer doesnt work, but my gas thingy is unstable i think, like when i hit the gas while in neutral it goes up and when i let go it goes down. i dont know how it acts when im driving. And also my oil gauge looks like

L|--- | -| -|H<---Kinda like that but circular form, but the like goes up around the middle a little toward the lesser side, should i add more oil?
-----^

Second problem, my alternator gauge. I think its more my alternator that my guage but the pointer thingy is within the blue range, I drove around alot since i jump started it but sometimes it stays in the high blues, and sometimes it jumps from low blue to high blue depending on if im hitting the gas or not. And my lights keep dimming and getting brighter depending on how hard i press the gas. Should i try rebuilding my alternater? I seen a thread on it around here but im not sure if its my alternator. And its a brand new battery thats in the car.

if you need any more info to help just ask.

After all that just be glad you have your car back... with the parts you have now just get a rubber hammer and knock out your dents. Then buy a CLUB and lock the steering when car is not in use. Go to work make some more money $$$... Sell your car for $500.00 because it works then go and buy another celica complete w/o collision. Then spend some more money putting in a good sound system and other goodies in your car and run around, big pimpin'.

Well, Im kinda Hesitant to sell it because the motor has T-VIS *drools* and before it got stolen but after the accident i had someone who wouldve bought it from me for the price i bought it for, 1100. Shouldve sold it!!! but i doubt he wants it anymore because now he knows about all the problem. and if i sell it and i have 500 cash. then my sister will probably make me give it to her because after the accident i owe 1600, but we are getting reciepts of how they came up with 1600, i crashed a ford taurus, barely hit it, and only hit 1 side of their car and it costs $1600 to fiX!!! ah... greedy fools. Ill probably spend $100 more and find some dirt cheap prices for another hood and light assembly.

I Dont plan on keeping this car for long, maybe sell it for dirt cheap to my friends little brother after i fix it. I just want a project car to increase my knowledge=].

I wish it was 2009 so i wont have to take it through emmissions, cuz when i bought it the owner thought it didnt run but all it needed was a quick jump start=] he went through 3 batterys. hahaha theyre in my trunk, i think... and thats why i didnt have to go do emmissions

imma take my sisters club, she never uses it but she has one

Id like to mention something, when i drive and rev up close to the red line, my car starts burning out?? or jumps alot and so i get scared and just shift. any problems? Im going to attempt to diagnose the problem later. look for lost bolts and such maybes its my engine jumping out? and anyone know where i can go do the dyno thingy, thatll help me even more, is there like a popular shop thats around usa?
