89 Celica ST won't start when it rains

Or shortly there after, or will sometimes cut off within 2 hours of raining.

Not sure what the heck the problem is. Neither are the 5 shops, including dealer that we took it to over the past year. I think mostly because by the time they get to looking at it, the humidity is back low enough that the problem is gone.

We've replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Used dielectric greese. Battery is good even under load.

So, anyone know what to check and how? The wife had to drive my car to work this morning and I'm stuck at home (off for holiday's thankfully).

Many Toyota owners have asked the same question (no run or start in rain). The answer seems to be the coil. Suggest doing a TN history search for more answers. Also check out igniter, but start with coil.

Smile cap

Have seen this problem on many older moldels. The distributor cap seal wears out and cracks and allows moisture under the cap. I recomend replacing the cap with the new seal. If you already havent. Good luck
