my celica (2000 16V gti)is realy slow to 5 rpm,and until 7.2 rpm she cik's realy good... i put a open air intake filter and have an open flow agzost... maybe somthing is not tund? how can i chek her power?because i think she needs to be stronger (i dont know what to comper becaus we have in israel somthig like 40 celica's car...)

Hmm do you have a 3SGE or a $4AGE engine? I think s3gte has it too but iunno, its called T-VIS. Its also called V-TEC. not teck. Look at your engine bay, and look at the fuel injhector, does it say T-VIS on it, if so you do got T-VIS. That doesnt always mean your car has T-VIS but since you can feel the power change then you most likely do.

89 celica repair questions

Go to that link to see it, I have T-VIS also. You can just check out my engine bay and compare

2000cc is probably a 3SFE or 3SGE. Hard to say without looking at the enigne or the car. But since the RPMs go up to 7200, I would suspect that it's a 3SGE.

The A series only went up to 1.8 as a 7AFE.

If you are talking about a hesitation around 5,000rpm, that's caused by dirty fuel injectors and/or carbon buildup. This can be improved by using gas additives that clean fuel systems. Or a simple tune-up may fix your issues.

Can you take a picture of under your hood?
That'll lead us in the right direction.

Maybe different engines were offered in israel. So for a definite answer a picture would do wonders.

wow, second generation 3sge, i drove a car a couple years back with one of those and all the power was after the door in the intake closed and wham, it took off, this motor has a door in the intake that changes the runner length and when it shuts and makes the runners real short it really hauls at hi rpm

If he had the timing belt off a tooth he might not make decent cylinder pressure until he was turning 5000-6000 r's, getting the cam timing on a dohc can be tricky. With the cam timing advanced (one tooth too much) it would act as if the bottom dropped out of it, with the timing retarded(one tooth too little) it might feel winded at 5000-6000 r's. Any how it can be tricky to get both cams in strait up if you don't have a lock tool.
