celica handling

i have a fifth gen and love to do canyon runs. I was wondering if any of you guys do this because im debating whether to stick in the celica side or move to a 90-96 mr2. I guess the question is suspension. Are any of you guys satisfied with good suspension and handling?

is thereany serious celica fanatics out here? Im pretty sure there is somebody out here who knows a thing or two. just shows that some celicas weren't meant to race. Or maybe some of you guys just don't know whats up.

...its a sad day today...

I have no idea since i never drove a 5th gen celica or a mr2. I suggest you test drive the mr2 on your canyon run and see which you like better.

celicas can hold its own on the track and autoX... handling on the alltrac would def be better than the regular celica, but the regular celica GT and GTS aren't too bad with suspension mods..... replace the struts, springs, and sway bar (heard this is a good mod to do) and u should be good.... i just replaced my suspension last weekend, so i have not tested it out yet as I need to get an alignment first...

From what ive heard the alltracs may have a slightly beter suspension but uhh... they are pigs... also known as cone killers a swapped st or stx would be an awesome car around the curves, something like a 3sge would be great.

ive heard the alltrac are like fat pigs too because they are heavy. stx? whats that, I do have a swapped st (at184 chassis) with a 3sgte motor. I was planning on buying the alltrac adjustable coil overs from tein sometime next year and white line sway bars and strut bars. Im still debating. I don't want to get my hopes up. When you say they hold their weight, are you talking from experience or do you know a guy who does autox?

Celica's do hold their own. The celica ST is a light car and when adding sway bars, KYB GR2s and strut braces the car does great with canyon runs. I have three cars and my ST drives and handles better than the convertable which has the 2.2L w/swaybars and strut braces.

I have an st but its nose heavy because of the 3sgte motor. Shocks are blown, 15inch wheels are too small and tires are way to thin for the speed i would like to go. i also don't want to go with kybs or tokicos. Tein coil overs is the perfect match of course with some mods. Just want to be happy with the car once its done. I can have all the horsepower in the world but if i cant stick to the floor then whats the point of having high hp numbers.

I've autox'd with a few FWD celica's and stock to stock I win, but it's easier to get more out of a FWD than the alltrac, as mentioned above, it's a pig.

canyon run is pretty simple. You go to the canyon with your friends and drive up and down fast as your skills and car can go hug the turns. You don't want to over do it because crashing can be deadly. I just went yesterday and it was fun. Not to much like initial d style, we cant drift with front wheel drive.
