My brother sold his '91 Celica GT to his girl with 100k+ on the clock. It is a GT coupe with 5 speed manual. He says about a month ago it started leaking the Dextron III ATF that he had been religious about changing every 15k or so. Seems to be leaking around the P/S pump area. He put Bars a leak P/S and auto tranny stop a leak in it and it slowed it but did not fix it. Is this likely a hose fiting or hose failure of a pump problem?

Most likely either the pump or the high pressure hose, which attaches to the pump.
The other end of the hose is right behind the pass side strut tower.
ould you have a dig pic or diagram to reffer me to. I have the Haynes but it is in clear. Are the pumps $$$?

mine did that bad there is actually a tad bit extra hose check the end going on the resevoir, i cut mine off put a new clamp on it and havent added any fluid for 6-7k miles.
Mine was leaking really bad when I got it. It was leaking from the cooler, its right in front of the rad. If that it you can just make a new one out of metal line from napa.

When i bought my 90 celica gt....the power steering fluid was leaking so much.All i needed was the high pressure hose connected to the pump and hasn't leaked since.

OK, we got under the car yesterday and the high pressure hose is leaking somewhere near the crimp fitting near the strut tower. Then leaking DOWN the insulation onto the pump. Would COULD NOT figure out how to remove the insulation, or even more importantly what size the bango bolt for the high pressure hose was on the pump? 21mm did not fit it must be like 24mm!! Also it is REAL hard to get back there!! We did get the high presure hose from O'Reilly for $30!!

It wasn't me who fixed it, it was a family friend mechanic.I was watching him though and he just did it from the engine bay.He didn't take anything off and he just used tools to make it longer so it would reach.If the car has been driven, that area would be pretty hot so let it cool down.I haven't leaked in 6 months since it got put in.I'm having problem with a gas leak now and it will get fixed soon.
I need to know what size that banjo bolt is? Can you ask him or can I ask him? Also what tool did he use to get in there. It is a very difficult spot!!
