i really dont know its like the middle of the axle the passenger side axle is the really long one but i know that part i need off the old axle is the main thing that keeps the axle lined up with the tranny and all bolted in....and what do u mean collar? should that piece split open in the middle or does it have a cover or what? thx for quick reply. i couldnt even get my damn core money cuz the jack asses at the parts store didnt even know the name of it or how to get it off lol.

I have the tools at my work to get it off.
If you have access more power to ya....
1.) Chop saw the shaft off of both ends of the axle.
2.) Then use hydraulic press to press out the pieces not needed.
wow man no i dont but i guess i could take it to a machine shop.....i love my toyota but why the hell would they make it where u cant buy the part or the average person cant even get it off the axle and ive done this on 3 other cars and never ran into this lol. what ive tried so far not much i did make sure any bolts was out and tapped it lightly with a hammer, judging by the looks of it everything on my car is original including tie rods and all so i have trouble believing toyota would make it so difficult to fix.

are you sure there's no circlip holding it in place? i'll be pulling the gearbox out of my st162 in the next few days for an overhaul, i might be able to post some feedback after that.

its not budging then i noticed if u can see there is like a ring it reminds me of a piston ring but a bigger gap but i got no idea how im gonna get it out of there
yeah man this dont make sense worst experience ive ever had with a any driveshaft all others just came out the box and went on i wonder if i knew what the part was called if there is an aftermarket one?
if there is a circlip in place (which i asked about previously), then you will need to remove it using a pair of circlip pliers. no amount of bashing will get the bracket off if that circlip is there.
I have a 91 GT-S with an automatic. I replaced both shafts on mine. I don't remember that being a big deal. I believe it should have a retaing ring and then it will slide over the bearing and off the same end that the other side came off. I believe that is how I did it. I do remember a retaining ring on one of the two shafts. Hope it helps.
