Exclamation Car Is a turd

Ok. I drive a 92 celica gt 5-speed and it is running like garbage now. First off, I have no power as far as engine goes. There is a loud humming noise coming from engine bay when I let off the gas or cruise at certain rpms. (2500) I have new plugs and wires. All the norm. Curious if anyone has had a similar problem. No engine light. No over heating. Seems like the majority of power loss is at but not limitd to higher rpms.

Power loss or lack of power?

The 5SFE is weak up top.
It's designed for lower rpm power.

It won't hurt to do a good tuneup.
Which means no Bosch plugs or such.

Use NGK or Desno [OEM] stuff.

Plugs, cap/rotor, wires [if they need it].
How old is your oil?
How does the air filter look?

I have a new filter, oil, plugs, wires, head gasket, axles, and all kinds of stuff. (Yeah I kow some of those don't help but I was going through the list.) Anyway, it's more of a lack of power. Can barely make it up a hill. I thought maybe it was like some air flow sensor or something. Also has a problem with idle. Will idle normal and all the sudden kick up to 2k and stay there. Then when I take off it wants to drop off and die. I have to rev the shit out of it and drop the clutch. I'm baffled

Your ECU uses a MAP sensor.
It reads the pressure in the intake manifold. It doesn't read flow.

Have you checked your EGR valve?
It might be stuck partially open some times.

check the timing belt whoever did the head gasket might have let it slip one tooth on accident (it's easy to do)

If it's the timing belt off it should be a constant thing, not sometimes high idle and such.
But it doesn't hurt to check....

I'd do a compression check and/or an engine leak down test. Also a vacuum reading is simple and could help tell you if the cat is clogged.
these tests will give you a good basis to start with on this engine and if you get low compression readings you wont waste your time changing sensors and so on -
