2000 GTS questions

Ok. the misses has a 2000 gts, and it has close to 100K on it. i put NGK spark plugs in it, and put a K&N stock replacement filter in. are there any other CHEAP or FREE mods i can do to this thing to give it better gas mileage and some extra pep? also, how often should the fuel filter and PCV valve be changed? her car is guzzling a little too much gas in my opinion. thanks in advance

Well, 2ZZ-GE loves Cold Air Intake. You might want to go with Injen since it has to be the best sounding intake for the 2ZZ-GE motor. You will notice a little loss in torque between 2000 - 3500 rpm, but midrange and top end in lift will be pretty insane. You will notice increased power by how fast the rpms climb between 5000 - 8400 rpm.

A few things you can do to get better gas mileage:

1 - Clean out your MAF (mass airflow sensor)

2 - Switch to synthetic transmission oil (will shift smoother as well).

3 - Switch to Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil (if you have not done so already).

4 - I assume it is a 6 speed?? Since the C60 transmission ratios are pretty short to keep revs high, you might want to keep these few things in mind while driving i.e. while cruising, drive in the highest possible gear in order to keep the rpms as low as possible, while driving in bumper to bumper traffic shift at no higher than 4000 rpm etc.
