Canada Celica Electrical problems

Hey, I recently installed a subwoofer in the back of my celica, but when I tried to start the car it wouldnt turn over, but not catch. Ive checked the battery and the alternator, but nothing seems to work.

Please give me ideas on what I should check. I have an 1989 Toyota Celica GT-S.

Make sure the battery is up on voltage. Engine off should be 12.6-12.8V, if below 12V you have a problem. With engine on, the alternator should be charging the battery at 13-14V. Also check the battery cables for corrosion, damage, etc.

The alternator will put out about 70amps at a high idle. Make sure you new amp system is not drawing too much current at engine idle or when off and running down the battery.
