4th Generation 1g 3sge motor quesitons

i have a 1g 3sge motor. im wondering how interchangeable parts are from the other generations of this motor. if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great, im mainly concered with internals, connecting rods and piston and cams. perhaps if anybody knows if there is a combination that works the best.

thanks

Gen 2 & 3 are the most interchangeable with each other of the 3sge engines as far as cams, head components etc. The pistons of 2nd and 3rd are interchangeable with the 1st, they are just different compression. The cams or any of the head components are not interchangeable from 1st to 2nd (or 3rd gen). Pretty much all the accessories interchange with each other. I don't know too much about the interchangeability of the connecting rods/crank/etc, but I thought I would give a bit of information that I do know .

Yes. The 3sgte is just a turbo charged 3sge with lower compression and better internals (a little more than that but you get the picture). But remember, when your building a naturally aspirated engine there is no point in throwing the 3sgte pistons in the mix. They have a lot less compression than the 3sge ones. If you want power go for a 3sgte swap, that would be the easist way to get there .

1st and 3rd gen have the same C:R. 8.5:1.
Gen 2 has 8.8:1.

the complete head should swap.
1st has different cam journals than 2/3 gens though, so cams won't swap without changing the complete head.

Cranks/rods should be interchangeable.

What exactly are you trying to do?

4th Generation

some might call me crazy

build the strongest, fastest engine, mixing stock parts, and fabricating as much as possible. my wife gave me a 1500 dollar limit. and a 2 year time frame (yea she rocks).

goals: frankenstein engine, turbo charged, homebuilt intake and header, o2 and exhaust(homebuilt) , no emissions, megasquirt ecu built by me, rewire the whole car. without changing the whole engine.
basicly i want to make the car so all it does is drives, no extra's.

i just want to see what I am capable of doing, and how fast Im capable of making a car. so any information that yall have that you might be able to contribute is greatly appreciated especially if somebody has done something similar to this before.

I was talking about the 3sge 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen. The 3sgte wasn't even mentioned until the 3rd post.

3sge breakdown by generation:

1st gen - CR 9.8:1
2nd gen- CR 10:1
3rd gen- CR 10:1
4th gen- CR 10:1
