Mine has 200k miles on it and when I run it at the strip I run straight 40. I can tell a loss in power but it is well worth it knowing in the upper rpms that my mains and rods aren't going to starve. I have ran as high as 50w for about 2000 miles. But that was during the summer here in oklahoma were the temperatures got as high as 112 this last year. Normally I run 10-40 or 15-40 with a bottle of lucas oil treatment. I am a firm believer in heavy oil. I know people here are going to disagree but that is my opinion.

German Castrol 0W-30. This oil is pretty much only available at AutoZone. It MUST say "Made in Germany" on the back. There is a date code on the bottom. M0510 and ABOVE is Gold. Below that is Green (yes, it's green). There is a little different additive package between the two, The GC 0W-30 is a high 30 weight at operating temps and is a true synthetic (Grp IV). I seriously doubt it would let you down.

I used to swear by mobil 1. But I spun the connecting rod bearings in my 2zzge(celica gts) and my prelude. When I rebuilt the 2zzge I did some research. I ended up with the only oil company that publishes ASTM test data. Marketing data is usless and it is what you see in adds and on the side of racing cars. I found the real deal showing ASTM D-4742 (ability to resist heat) , ASTM D-4863 (high temperature shear), ASTM D-5800 NOACK volatility (how fast it evaporates hot), ASTM D 4172 (4 ball wear scar). This test data is available in PDF format and is published on bottles of AMSOIL synthetic oil. You can get more info about the actual tests from the ASTM web site. Once I saw the results of these tests I will never use Mobile 1, lucas, royal purple or any oil that does so poorly in real tests.

I use 10w30 deisel oil in both my cars, you could go up to 15w-40. It's more resistant to burning and made to handle high compression.

it doesn't have to do with burning the oil. It has to do with the more pressue from the crank to connecting rod and rod to piston pin and the piston pin to the piston. More compression means more pressure is exerted on those points causing all the oil to be pushed out. With a heavier oil, it doesn't push out as easy as a light oil. If you run to light visocity oil in a motor designed for a heavy visocity, then you just toasted the bearings.
