Gen5 Tdc

hi
does anyone have a photo of the cams on a 1990 3sge engine at TDC?

ive just replaced the head gasket and was planning to do the cambelt as a second job and messed it all up. i cant find a pic of the cams at tdc.
i know the crank pulley position but i understand that it can be 360 degrees out as its a 720 degree cycle. i believe im halfway through that cycle as the dots on the cam are at the bottom. but im not sure what im supposed to line them up to. i cant look at a haynes manual cos they wernt produced in the uk so please any help will be greatly recieved.

thanks
Pete

There appears to be two types of cam pulleys, 5 holes (bolt holes) and 1 hole (actually no bolt holes other then the bolt that screws into the cam). If 5 holes the knock pin should be in the up position. If 1 hole, the keyway should be up. Each pulley appears to have an “S” and a view hole that should be up. Normally there is a mark(s) on the head somewhere at the top; each pulley hole is brought up and the mark sighted through the hole. Both pulleys will have the same alignment (view holes up).

The crank is brought to 0 degrees and the timing belt installed. Turn the crank two times by hand and recheck all marks. If off, try again. Remember, when the tensioner is released, the cams may rotate a little which may make the alignment off. If so, attempt to compensate by moving the cams one way or the other before installing the belt. If still having issues, post back a private message and I can send a diagram.
