88' Celica is that Gen 4?
Think about it, 14yrs of the car!
Is that still has a good condition?
Think about what car you can get by $4500 with the lower year.

lighter? i think you *ARE* missing something here. check up on your data. the st165 is a good 3000lbs empty. plus i doubt his 3SGTE was stock. you do the math.
Gen 3 Camry 4cyl is almost 3100lbs empty. I am not sure about the block weight between a 3S-GTE and 5S-FE but I assume it is negligible.

Maybe he does have a bigger turbo or something. He did his high 13 run at 2500ft above sea level too... so it could in fact be faster.
actually I go it off the Japanese MR2 turbo ... its a 2nd Gen 3S-GTE pre'Oct of '93... And yes I have a bigger turbo, and 264° Cams and thats about it when it comes to engine work... Other than that I have you basic performance upgrades, i.e. exhaust, intake...
