4th Generation Anyone please help Me! 88 celica gt-s that idels rough under 2krpms

well i got new plugs and the cap is almost new. everything is getting spark. the 1 2 and 4 plugs were dirty and more white. the number 3 was straight black. they are all getting spark but it is running on 3 cylinders i can pull the wire of #3 and it wont change the car at all. that is how i know it isnt working. i dont have a pressure tester to see if it has a burnt piston or valve. is there anyother way to tell? does anyone else have any suggestions????? thank you ver much jonny

How's your distributor? I washed my engine bay once and some water got in the distributor and shorted out #3 on my car.

There's my two cents.

Is the number three plug getting spark? Pull it, reconnect to the wire, crank engine and see what you get. Crank engine with plugs in and distributor cap off. The engine should sound as if all cylinders are the same when they turn over. If the starter seems to accelerate at one point, a cylinder may have very low compression.

I had a similar problem just a month ago my car was idleing terrible and i replaced a lot of stuff that didnt help. Check you MAp sensor above the intake and see if dissconecting the vacum line changes anything and if so replace it. If not i had a plug wire that looked good but if you looked closely the side had split in the area thats down in the head, and was losing current strenght or something and needed to be replaced and that fixed it with replaceing my MAp sensor.
