Turbo-in My Celica!

I have a 92 Celica ST, 1.6L engine. I just got a turbo kit on ebay for $500, came with custom turbo manifold, garett t3 turbo, two flanges for oil in/out, and a downpipe.

I already know Im going to need oil lines, one question, how big should the oil feed line be? Does it matter? I havnt tryed installing anything yet, but I know im gonna need guages to monitor stuff, Boost and Air/Fuel gauge.

Just wondering if there's anything special I should really look into before putting it on? I'm only going to run around 5-7 psi at first and see how it runs for a week or so. My engine is pretty much stock.

So any help is appreciated!

well just to start off your going to need a lot more than what you have listed. Im not sure about the 1.6, but for the 5sfe you need something to control your timing and fuel and not just gauges to monitor. You will probably need bigger injectors, better headgasket, pressure sensor, and thats just off the top of my head. you definitly need to do more resarch before trusting wha an ebay seller tells you is all you need. Not trying to shoot you down or anything, I am actually in the process of turboing my 5sfe celica too, but it seems you dont know the full extent of what you may be getting into to do a good reliable set up. you could bolt what you have up, but would have really good chance of ending up with a blown motor.
There is definitly a lot of good information on this site and a few others to get you pointed in the right direction and good luck with it.

It seems to me, with all the stuff you'll want to buy and install extra to make this run well, you'd be better off just swaping in a 3sgte.

3s-gte is big time overrated, yes it makes numbers, but the amount of money put into the damn things outweighs the benefit of it just being a 3sgte. You can make the 4afe stock have just as much power with less cost than a 3s, and less work.

For the oil lines, any size will work for the return, just buy a generic ebay return kit and take your oilpan off, take it to a welding shop and ask them to weld it on about the top middle of your oilpan, as for oil feed just find a normal oil feed kit for a t3 turbo. You will need to either remove your oil pressure sensor and use a brass T to split the feed off or tap your block for the feed, I recommend doing it the first way I mentioned.

As for tuning, you WILL need upgraded injectors, the easiest to tune with will be the black supra injectors rated at 440cc, then use a 3s-gte map sensor. You will idle and drive fine in vacuum, as the 3s map sensor scales with the 440s perfectly.

You need tuning, if you arent looking at pushing more than 80 extra horsepower out of the engine just an SAFC will do, if you really want to optimize your kit you will need something that controlls the injector PW and the spark advamce, as well as a knock detection device.

A Greddy e-manage with injector harness and ignition harness will do everything you will need, or a PP SMT-6 or SMT-7 but they arent easy to come by, I know of a dealer and its the same cost as a new e-manage with the extra features.
