4th Generation 89 Toyota Celica GT

Hey everybody, my name is Rick I'm 18 and I just bought a 89 Toyota Celica GT. Just for the heck of TUNING. Well I think I need a bit of advice. at first the car was running great. Then the drive home... well I live about 6,000 feet above where I bought the car... and I dought the car had ever been that high. Anyway it seems like the car over heats a bit... lol it over heated twice.. both times I took it up and down the hill. Anyway the trips were to get rims and tires cause i though nothing of the overheating to much... well I got such a good deal on Japans Tom's rims 15" and freaking street radial tires. for $600 flat... I couldn't refuse. Anyway so I am saving moeny again, I did replace the entire coolant fluid. changed the raidiator cap w/ a quick pressure release valve. and it runs better up the hill. But it did before I repalced the stuff. It over heated not more than I'd say 10 miles from my house. anyway just wondering if anybody ahs had this problem before, or has any sugestions... like timing... new gas filter... of course a tune up... but anything else maybe like the temp modual ? anyway let me know what you think... any sugestions are better than none. BTW the car ahs 165,000 miles on it. Oils good, and Trans oil is all good... O and also i loose a crap load of Hp like my pedal is all the way to the floor and I'm going 10 MPH but only when it gets a to aboput the point where I'm over heating. no major over-heating as accourd into the RED zone yet... just barley. Heads are still good and what not. Anyway enough of me talking... damn my fingers are tired. lol

If you've changed the coolant and its still over heating then the next step is to change the thermostat. its a cheap and easy fix if its still doing that then maybe your radiator isnt functioning properly. change the thermostat and get back to us.
