5sfe Rings are gone

very bad news i have been told by a tech that the rings are gone in atleast 2 cylinders and the engine would have to be rebuilt again. just my luck it turns out that the map sensor hose when it came disconnected under boost it caused the fuel ratio to go lean and i burned up the rings this is why the car was hard to start. He take off the pvc valve and oil shot all over the place and the whole time the car run exhaust gases were coming out of the valve cover.

SO I ASK YOU GUYS WHICH WOULD BE BETTER REBUILD THE 5SFE AND PUT FORGED PISTONS AND STEEL SLEAVES AND TOTAL SEAL GAPLESS RINGS

OR SHOULD I GO GET THE 3SGTE AND BE DONE WITH IT. i BELIEVE IF I GET THE 5SFE BUILT THE CORRECT WAY I WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OUT OF IT. iT RAN ALONG WITH A 600HP STROKER ENGINE IN A MONTECARLO.

IF I GET THE 3SGTE I ESTIMATE IT WOULD COST 2000USD FOR THE ENGINE AND ATLEAST ANOTHER 2000USD IN PARTS LABOR AND OTHER MISS AND IF I REBUILD THE 5SFE TO BE TURBO WORTHY IT WOULD COST ABOUT 2000USD FOR THE REBUILD.

GIVE ME YOUR OPINION PLEASE

^ where on earth do you get that idea?

What kind of supercharger are you going with? RIPP stopped production and they were way more expensive than a turbo setup anyway, you cannot easily do a roots style setup and the tuning on that would be a nightmare from all the heat the supercharger puts out.

No matter what tuning the 5s-fe isn't going to be easy, there is some universal aftermarket that is useful but nothing is a direct bolt-on.

With a supercharger you will run into belt slip and lag. With a nice t3 turbo you might run into lag. Both of these just get worse the more power you want to make.

where can i get a supercharger for my 5sfe 1992 toyota celica gt. I have had the turbo setup already but the heat it generated was tremendous and i had cooling problems even after i have installed 2 turbo fans on the radiator i think that the turbo generated way too much heat and the radiator could not handle it. So now i want to try a supercharger but i cannot find one can someone help me? Also the tunning was hell going up a hill and down the hill see a supercharger applies conatant boost across the rpm range and i would gain low in torque and horsepower all the way down to 1000rpms. And tunning will be easier cause the boost is constant so you could easially use a safcII to add fuel across the rpm range.

Please please someone find me a supercharger ok

Sounds like you just had some tuning problems man, stick with the turbo, trust me. Unless you get ahold of a RIPP kit (there might still be one in the for sale section on these forums) you will have to fabricate a roots style blower, and they put out more heat than a turbocharger does.

I don't see why you would have so many problems with heat, Ive seem plenty of 5s-fe turbo setups and never really heard of this, unless you ran it too lean.
