Check engine light help

i have a 93 celica gt 5sfe engine. i drive it and it runs fine. i have a check engine light that comes on maybe once a week. when it comes on i pull the car over and turn the car off. when i turn the car on the check engine light comes on while the computer does its check then the check engine light goes off. so frustrating. should i be worried. what is the check engine light attached to......i had an isuzu rodeo that when it came on that meant that your emissions were f'd up. is it the same with the celica. plz help

Check engine light could mean anything, a major or minor problem. Don't assume the worst. You can check the codes yourself by using the check engine light to read out the codes. Drop a post direct if you want the directions.

well i mean i got a toyota celica 94 5 speed manuel and my check engine did the same thing and it bugged me to ......i checked my O2 censors and clean my air intake filter and it came on less freaquently ....... so i just bought a new air intake ....its a cold air intake from injen and my check engine light only comes on when i use my air conditioner alot and well i cant figure that one out soo if you know anything about that then throw some info my way.....
