Just bought 94 st smoking but no oil leaks

The car is smoking alot but is not leaking from the undercarriage of the car.What is my first step in fixing the problem?The oil had not been changed for about a year before i bought the car so it was very low and had not been driven alot.what about an engine flush 2 start?

Suggest first changing the oil and filter. Is this oil or gas coming out the back, take a whiff and see. Do compression or leak down test of the cylinders. After testing each cylinder add a little motor oil to the cylinder, crank engine and test again. Bad rings, scored cylinder should pickup compression with the addition of oil to seal them. If no change, might be valve guides or seals.
