Gen1 Hello fellow celica owners...

Hello im new to the forum so I decided this would be the best place to introduce myself since I do own a celica and all.

Heres what I've got. It's a 1972 Celica 18rc 4 Speed. Im in the process of restoring it... its been a long process but its almost complete. there are a few things im still looking for parts wise. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!

Im looking for a window washer fluid pump, a signal box (controls the blinker), side mirrors, rubber gasket for the windshield.

other things im interested in:
-Im looking to get all the chrome on the car re-buffed or re-done
-maybe getting a ballpark figure on what this car is worth?

thanks everyone!

This forum is mostly for the FWD Celicas.
At http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...elica/messages we deal mostly with the RWD Celicas like yours (mine is a '77 liftback).

The washer bottle is common to many other Toyota models from the 70's and early 80's.
Digging around in wrecking yards should come up with something close enough.

The blinker (metal can with 3 terminals on top) should be obtainable from any decent parts supplier.
These are a commodity items used by most cars of that vintage, regardless of manufacturer.

Side mirrors are getting hard to find in good condition.
They were common to the Coronas and Corollas of the 70's.
Many people get Ford bullet mirrors (left and right) that were popular in the 70's.
Any Mustang reproduction shop can get them for you.
Look very similar to 76-77 GT mirrors and also very similar to Japanese market GT mirrors.

Sources for the front window rubber seal...
1. NOS in the US http://www.toyheadauto.com/
2. Repro in Australia, https://rsp-secure.com/Search%20Prod...TOYOTA&shop_id=
3. Repro in Thailand http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180109691919
(this same vendor makes many other repro parts like mirrors but I haven't bought anything from him yet)

wow stepho alot of that stuff really helps! that bottle washer kit you found is nice but my only problem with is it that i have all the other original washer parts in working condition. all i need is the little pump. but no doubt a great find and i more than likely will buy it. im going to go through your links and see if i can use anything as well.

thanks again guys,

the link you sent me for NOS has both the mirrors that go near the door and the ones that mount on the hood. what do you guys think would look better? the america version or the japanese?

Hmm, Toyhead has more repro parts now compared to last time I looked.

The classic-sporty mirrors are definitely generic aftermarket mirrors.
I had a similar pair (black) but removed them when I got some genuine '77 GT mirrors.
The chrome ones look too much like the ghastly sets you find in cheap bling-bling car dressup shops (the type that sell only gear knobs and stickers).
In my opinion, Ford bullet mirrors look much better and are much better quality.

The JDM mirrors look authentic (or are at least very closely copied aftermarket items).
Beware that they may not be legal in your state.
They aren't legal here in Western Australia but then again, most cops wouldn't know that.
You would have to drill 2 small bolt holes and another large hole for each mirror to mount it on your fender.
If the police ask you to take them off then you have big holes to cover up.
Also, JDM mirrors show a different field of view than you are used to.
If you buy them then take care that you can see them without the A pillar getting in the way.

If you only want the washer pump then get one from a wrecking yard from almost any Toyota from the 70's (eg Corolla, Crown, Mark II, etc).

thanks for the advice again stepho, after looking at the car again i found 2 small holes near the drivers door where im guessing the mirror went. the other door doesnt have any holes at all. is it possible that there was just 1 mirror?

ive searched high and low across Texas and have no been able to turn up any old toyotas in the junk yards but im going to keep looking....

do you know of a place where i can buy those bullet mirrors?

Yep, that's right, the '72 only had a driver's side mirror.
The only way to get the other side is to ask somebody in a right hand drive country (eg England, Australia, Japan, Africa) if they have a spare.
I'm in Australia but I don't have a spare.

Ford bullet mirrors should be available in just about every Mustang restoration shop.
Think of 69-73 Mustangs.
