Smile Engine cooling

My engine in my gt-four st185 seems to get really hot really quickly, i have tried using engine coolant that i bought from a toyota specialist in Cornwall but it still gets really hot. I have been told to buy a pace intercooler but having looked at the price i dont have the sufficient funds. Is there anything else i could do to help keep the temperature down that doesnt cost an arm and a leg?

Have you looked at the cooling system itself. Items like radiator plugged, thermostat problems, bad water pump, etc.

Yeh that was all checked when i got it serviced a week ago and they told me that the water pump, radiator and thermostat were all working fine. Bt even though i was told they were ok it still seems to get hot really fast despite having the bonnet scoop.

Welcome to owning a turbo car with a small engine bay.

Is it overheating or just getting hot quick?

The hood scoop only cools the intercooler, and thus your intake temps, not necesarily your motor. So that being said I don't think switching intercoolers will help you either.

i don't know if anyone here can verify this, I know that you could get some header wrap and wrap your manifold in it, on a NA motor it takes the engine bay temp down 65% - 85% depending on the brand and certain materials that can be add to the wrap like copper and stuff. try that. plus you know, just like super cooling your intake, super heating your exhaust (by wrapping) can give you more horses to. me and a friend wrap his headers and part of his down pipe and put heat shield on his short air ram and noticed a huge power jump. give it a shot. anything to heat away from the engine bay could help. and tou would also be getting heat away from the intercooler.
