Brakes smelling bad after replacing - Caliper Problem??

I've got an 89 GT and I replaced all the brake rotors, drums, pad, and shoes last week. After driving around I noticed the front right wheel (passenger side) smells like burnt brakes and it feels fairly hot there. I then replaced both guide pins (including washers) thinking that could be the problem, and then I tested it out. First I lifted the passenger side and then put the car in drive. The wheel turned without a problem and the brakes stopped the wheel fine. I did the same in reverse and everything ran great. Then I just took the car today to work and that same passenger side wheel smells strongly of burnt brakes. My brake pedal does not vibrate at all and the wheel is still moving when I let off the brake, so I don't know what's going on. Is this smell something normal when replacing brake parts? Will it be something that will go away soon, or did I mess up on installing the brakes?

Did you do a brake fluid flush too?

I did not bleed the brake system. I did have a mechanic check it out and he said everything is fine. He said it could be that I didn't wash the rotors after I took them out of the packaging and that stuff could be burning off with the heat. Is that possible?

alot of the time brake pads and shoes arent exactly as rounded off if you just bought them from the store, I replaced the pads and shoes on my celica and like wise got the burnt smell from the brakes. check your brake fluid and make sure its not clouding over but the smell should go away.

Perfect! That's what I was afraid of. The brake fluid is great so I'm assuming it's only a matter of time till the brakes get worn in and then the smell and heat will go away. Thanks for the help!
