It sounds to me like you're leaking all the freon back out. You probably have a busted line somewhere.
Also, if the system is completely empty you will have to add compressor oil as well as freon, otherwise you will fry your compressor.
I'd either get a pump or take it to a lube shop that does AC maintenance (AC Tune-up, whatever they want to call it) and have them pump it dry and let you know if the system can hold a vacuum. If it can, you're golden...just refill it with a can of compressor oil then put freon in it until it stops taking it in. Probably a bit more than 2 cans after the oil.
If it doesn't hold a vacuum, it's time to start troubleshooting and figuring out where the hole is, be it in a hose, the condenser, the compressor, whatever, because that's where you're problem lies.
Edit: Also, you're not supposed to mix the new refrigerant with the old...so if you just put the conversion kit on and filled it up, that could be the problem. Have it sucked dry first.
