help! 3sgte struggling!

okay i went to check out an 88 with a 1st generation 3sgte. first when you start it, it kind of struggles or maybe like it shakes like crazy. the dude was like he put a standalone ecu or whatever and it's distribuless or what not. he says the reason it's shaking like crazy is because of spark plugs. he said he had them specialized. they're now coils or what the hell. anybody heard of this shit? im pretty new to the 3sgte stuff. i've always loved the 5sfe. but overall this car drives well. at certain speed it struggles and shakes. someone plz help me. i really want the car so im asking for help!

I've heard of this being done. I don't understand why it shakes though, unless it's just a really aggressive tune on the stand alone.

Honestly, if you don't know much about standalone ecus, and such, I wouldn't buy the car cause you might be spending a lot of money taking it to shops when ever you need to make an adjustment.

Yeah I don't know what would be causing that, like I said, it's probably some sort of aggressive timing. The switch to coil on spark plug is cool though, something I want to do some day.
