My 82 Celica is showing its age, and I just bought a replacement. I still drive it to work daily. Rather than turning it over to the crusher or the teenager up the street, I might be willing to give it free to anyone who would commit to restore it or maintain it well for their own use. Any suggestions on someone who might be interested? Columbus, OH area.
Venom_5, yes it runs fine and I use it back and forth to work most days. But the A/C went out this week -- I think the condenser. It may also need a new carbon cannister -- if I turn it off when it's fully warmed up the float bowl drains after about 12 hours and it takes some cranking to start then. Otherwise starts quickly. The exhaust is noisier than it should be and I can't figure that out -- can't find a leak. You would make it from here to Tennessee if you didn't need A/C!
Venom_5 (Sorry if this is a repeat, it didn't look like the last one "took") OK, let me know. I have also been getting inquiries by Private Email that don't show up here. The only fair way I can think of to handle multiple inquiries is, whoever gives me a near date when they are coming up here gets the first shot. I will Post that fact here. Then if they don't take the car, I will repost. Hope that sounds OK.
OK, sounds good I will be here on Saturday but not Sunday. Let me know if that will work for you. Also, if there is anything we are going to have to do (like get the title notarized) so you can get your TN title, please let me know so I can figure out how. I don't know anything about such things even in OH, let alone TN. Also what you might need to do about plates for your return trip, I have to move the ones on it now to the replacement car.
my dad had sold me a 82 gt back in 1990
it got stolen two years later.
I live in dallas, tx area + can fly up their right away
with temp transfer plates to drive it here.
we don't salt much here so cars last forever
right now i own a 92 St
with no A/C so i'm use to the heat here.
PLEASE let me know
92Celica_St, well, it is still available and I have been saying that whoever first committed to a specific near date to come and get it would have the first shot. A couple of people are trying to make plans to come here but I don't have a committed date from anyone yet. If you would please send me an email address vai Private Mail, I'd like to send you some pictures of the rusty spots etc. so you don't waste a trip. Also please let me know if there is anything I need to do with the title so it will be acceptable in TX. I know nothing about their rules. If we need to go get it notarized or something I need to know to be sure we can find a place to do it. OK??
Is she still available? I have a friend that REALLY needs a car...I might be willing to make the trip up there from Austin this weekend if the car is still available.

I'm strongly against picketing, but I'm not sure how to show it...
and wiccan - i believe he is giving it to the first person that can come get it this weekend, and if nobody picks it up this weekend, he isnt available until the weekend of the 28th
if its still around the weekend of the 28th, im hoping my college roommate and i can go grab it

wiccanferret and all, Yes, Venom_5 has it correct. It is still available right now but I have gotten multiple inquiries on this -- I have been surprised -- and the only fair way I can think of to handle it is: whoever gives me a specific near term date when they will come up here to get it gets the first shot. I will Post that so others don't waste time. Then if that person doesn't take it, I will Post that and we can repeat it if needed.
Venom_5 is also correct on my schedule. I am in town this Saturday July 7 but not Sunday. July 14 and 21 I am not available. Should be OK again July 28. Weekdays we will have to negotiate.
Also, anyone who wants to come up, please get straight on what your state requires for title transfer and temporary plates. I don't know this stuff. I will sign the title to you, but if you get home and they tell you it has to be notarized or something then I don't know what you will do. If you need it notarized, you have to let me know so I can try to find a place that's open when you come. The Deputy Registrars in OH close at noon Saturdays. You need to arrange your temporary plates to get home because I am moving the plates to my new car. OK??
