92 Celica ST - After 1 year of not driving A/C does not work

So I've had my Celica parked for almost the last year. I started her up and everything works just like it did before. But, the A/C doesn't work. The fan blows, and the A/C light lights up when I press the A/C button, but cold air does not blow out of the vents.

Also, the engine doesn't increase it's idle when pressing the A/C switch. It idles at 700 or so RPM's, and it used to idle up to 1,100 RPM's when the A/C was on. But now it stays at 700 no matter what.

I'm pretty sure an A/C won't just die in less then a year from not using the car at all. So I'm guessing it's a blown A/C fuse?

I checked in the engine and all the fuses are fine (the fuse box next to the battery). I checked the passenger side kick panel and the 3 fuses in there are fine. But, none of those fuses were "A/C" fuses. Does my car have an A/C fuse? Do you think it could be something other then the fuse?

maybe the compressor is bad, maybe you have a coolant leak.

So there is no A/C fuse on my car? I should start checking for other things then?

fuses don't really blow when a car just sits there. A/C leaks, and compressors seals can harden.

Check the
"A/C Magnetic Clutch Relay"
it's under the hood to the left of the Radiator
it's feed from a 16 amp fuse labled "Guage"
it's controlled by the "A/C Amplifier"
located under the dash/glove box area by the blower
*** This relay controles BOTH the RPM's and the A/C Clutch
i have had these relays corrode on their connectors before,
just unplugging them & putting them back in cleans them if it's minor.
*seeing that you live in an area with salt in the air & high humidity*

Also, as tonyconvert85 mentioned it might need a charge,
the way the logic in "A/C Amplifier" is setup,
it looks to see if you have the proper pressure in the system
BEFORE it trys to turn on the relay. GOOD Luck

3rd Generation

U might also try to buy the AC recharge kit at Auto Zone, Pep Boys and Kragen for a good 35 to 45 dollars. Recharging is easy. Also, i don't know if ur car comes equiped withan ac sensor idle on top of the engine like other Toyotas.
