Gen5 URGENT! 1993 Celica issue

Today, I had a very strange problem happen with my Celica. I had just bought fuel at a Shell in Indianapolis, and as I was pulling out of the gas station, the throttle response didn't quite seem right. The car didn't make it much farther initially (only into the left hand turn lane), and I pushed it into a parking lot and waited for family to come and help. While there, I found that the car would rev normally if you were VERY gentle with the pedal, but if you pushed it just a bit too quick (as in, not WOT, but not the instructed "as-if-you-had-an-egg-under-the-accelerator"), the engine would continue to fire, but the revs would decrease and then die. I had it towed to my grandparents house, and suspecting the fuel filter, my dad and I got one to replace.

Here's where I need some help:

1. Has anyone else had this happen, and is this the correct thing to replace?

2. Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 Celica GT? (I don't have my repair manual here in Indy with me)

thanks in advance!

Could also be the MAP/MAF sensor, lack of fuel flow, bad ignition system. Fuel filter could be mounted on the firewall drivers side, a metal can. Follow the fuel line from the engine.

Since you had just filled up, I would also check for water in the fuel.

I second Ignition Coil. When mine stranded me on the side of the highway this is EXACTLY what it did. If you change your coil yourself, make SURE you use diaelectric grease on the coil's posts. Otherwise your acceleration will be crap when the car warms up. A Duralast from Autozone worked well for me. A Borg-Warner failed within 24 hours.
