I'll be posting the progress of my All-trac project here. Hopefully it will help someone out that is going through a similar restoration. Please feel free to post any comments, suggestions, or questions!
I bought my 1992 All-Trac in January of 2006. I bought it with a blown engine and some rust. The car was completely stock and the interior was in great shape! I bought the All-Trac as an alternative to buying a turbo kit for my 2001 Celica GT-S.
January 8th 2006 - Day I picked the car up. Drove 12 hours one way.
January 28th 2006 - New shortblock arrived. 3S block with .040 overbore, Wiseco 9.0:1 forged pistons, Eagle forged rods, King Race bearings. I also picked up a factory-spec reconditioned 3s-gte head. I used all ARP bolts and studs.
April 16th 2006 - Cranked the car for the first time. I forgot a washer behind the timing belt tensioner, so the belt rode towards the inside of the pulleys causing it to wear. I installed a washer and replaced the timing belt. I also found out that the radiator fan did not work. This is probably the reason why the car had blown the head gasket to begin with. Replaced the radiator fan with an 11" SPAL fan.
May 26th 2006 - First track night. 1/8th mile. I was running 9psi boost. Couldn't get a good launch the whole night. I was still on the stock top mount, stock air box, stock fuel system. My time is on the right.
June 30th 2006 - First outing to the 1/4 mile track. I was still on the stock top mount, stock air box, stock fuel system, stock ecu, etc... This was at 12psi boost.
November 3rd 2006 - Back to the 1/4 mile track. Last time I ran a 13.9.. changes since then are front mount intercooler and 3" intake, and +1 psi boost. I was at 13 psi this night.
