Low revs and jumpy idleing celica gt 3s-fe

My car starts up fine then idle's at about 1000rpm after 20 secs or so wich was normal. Then after about 3 or 4 minuites of idleing the revs drop down to between 400-500rpm and the engien starts to sputer and shake.Just woundering if anyone else as has had the same prob and got it sorted..

It sounds like a low idle. The sputter and shake sounds like it's under reving to the point of wanting to stall.

There's an idle adjustment screw on the intake manifold. Wait for the car to warm up and start the low idle, then adjust the screw untill you get a 7-900rpm idle, whatever is the most comfortible to you. I think 900 might be a little high but go by whatever feels the smoothest to you. Turn the car off then let it cool down for a few hours, overnight would be best. Come back once the engine is cold and try it again.

If that doesn't work. Try cleaning out the IAC valve. It's a small valve body on the intake mani that lets air in at idle to even out on decel and idle. How does the car drive? does it sputter or hesatate when driving? do you get any hesatation or missfire on decel?

Is the idle adjustment screw on the IAC valve? and is that the black sensor thats bolted to the left side of the manifold with the couple of pipes coming out and a sensor plug goin in.The car seams to drive fine but ive only been round 30mph zones havent been on the motorway yet.The revs shoot up fine without hesitation or stalling on decel,it did hav that problem before but i cleaned the map sensor out and that seamed to sort that prob out. There is also a loud click noise that comes from the engien sometimes when it is running and when the engien has been turned of,also quite a watery exhust.Just seams to b a 1 thing after another car.

Update on the gt.I got the revs idleing at 900rpm, wen im just reving the car the revs go up and down fine but wen im taking off i need to get alot more gas down to get the car moving and stop it stalling. The intake manifold seams to get realy hot even to hot to touch and the water pipes get firm and realy hot quickly to.Just woudering if this could be connected to the poor revs .

4th Generation

I have similar issues as well. it's at the shop now for a full tune-up which is what I'd suggest at this time. Hopefully, this will end the problems. I'll let you know how it works for me. If you're a DIY guy, plugs-wires-cap-rotor to start.
