Wilwood Proportioning Valve

Hello all,

I was hoping to replace the proportioning valve (p-valve) in my 90 Celica GT while replacing a cracked brake line, only to find out that it costs $300! It's in pretty rough shape, rust wise, and I suspect I will end up destroying it when I go to disconnect the cracked brake line from the p-valve.

After some research, I found the Wilwood #260-8419 adjustable p-valve which I read is usually used in tuning applications. This option would be significantly cheaper, because I can buy these on eBay, but I'm unsure of quality of this solution. Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight on installing such a p-valve instead of the factory one. Thanks

Well the OEM valve is going to be install and go. It's made for your set pressure, calipers and length of line.

I don't see why an adjustible couldn't take it's place. But since they are there for people adding additional mens to the brake system. It will have to be set properly. I've never messed with one so I don't know what this entails.

However Wilwood is a very nice company, I would sugest giving them a call. Telling them the part numebr and telling them exactly what you're doing. I'm sure they'll be able to send you in the ritr direction about their part and it's functionality in your case.

I would check your local junk yards. I pulled the proportioning valve off of a '90 Celica ST w/o ABS and put it on my All-trac when I did my ABS delete. I think they charged me like $8.

Well the good news is, I was successful it removing the cracked brake lines from the p-valve without destroying it, so there was no need for the OEM or thie Wilwood. Although, before I attempted to do so, I took your advice PhillyDRFT, and contacted Wilwood. They told me that I would be able to use the adjustable valve, but would obviously not be a direct replacement.

Thanks for the help!
