4AFE to 3SGTE swap

i was thinking about swaping the engine out in my toyota celica st, you know the small 1.6L 4 banger. any way i was thinking about finding an MR2 engine, the 3SGTE and swaping then out. what im asking is if any one has done this or if it is worth it and if i would have to move the motor mounts?

It has been done, the 3sgte is an S series motor and the 4afe is an A series, so they use different mounts. Some people have made mount adapters. The best bet is to weld in new mounts though.

Yes it's worth it, if you're willing to take the time and do everything right. If you get a front clip. You will have EVERYTHING you need. with excess.

Yes you'll need new mounts.

BTW: If he gets a front clip, he'll have nothing more than an expensive paper weight. The motor's in the rear of the MR2

If you like the blacktop 20v.... then why don't you put one in your car?

But you know how to turbo and tune a car?

Go look around the corolla forums, they probably will be able to give you a step by step write-up.

Then check out the Corolla forums and see if they can hook you up with someone in your area....

I realize that it's MOSTLY the same... but you're in the Celica forums right now. :P

No, that means you need a new valve cover gasket.
