Maaco Estimate

This isn't really a specific Celica question but I thought I'd give it a try. I have this 1990 Celica GT in primer. There is some rust spots on the left rear panel (bubbly) and right rear panel as well as the bottom of the passenger door. If I wanted to get it fixed, as well as paint the car black, could anybody who has gotten something like that done tell me how much i'll probably end up spending? Just ball park it. I know you would have to see it. But I don't have a lot of time to go have it done and this might help motivate me to go do it.

Thanks

If you pay less than $2000, go someplace else.

My recommendation is go to a Toyota dealership and ask them where they take their cars to and than go there.

If you want to change the color of the car, you definitel don't want to go to Maaco or any other cheapo body and paint shop. You get what you pay for.

I will not recommend getting black. The car will get hot inside in the summer and you have to clean the car all the time.

Painting is kind of a lost art these days. We deal with several body shops in this area, many of who do paintwork for dealerships, and I can honestly say that I have been less than impressed with every last one of them. Regardless of how much you pay it just seems like nobody cares or has an eye for detail anymore. I dont think im being picky, but thats just my opinion. I guess it just depends on how paticular you are. I spent about $4500 to have my mustang painted and that was with a shop discount and I still had to go back several times to take care of the paint drips, uneven application, and pit marks.

You are going to want a reputable auto body/paint shop for your repairs, especially if you are going black. Black magnifies EVERY flaw in the body work and extra care must be taken when prepping for a black paint job. I would highly recommend AGAINST Macco
