Canada 87 GT-S, and my love for her

So here it is, an 87 GT-S with a tranny, and body problems...

I just came across an 89 GT, and was hoping to use the tranny, and body parts from it on the 87...is this possible? Or, can i make the assumption that everything except the top end of the engine is workable?

I know the 87 is emission exempt, which is why I want to build it, plus I love the body style over the coupe

I also need brakes, rotors, and calipers on all corners <advice on best to use for daily driver/honda eater >

I'm not looking into turbo'ing the 3s-ge just yet but, thats another reason to keep the 87

Please be gentle with me, I'm a TN/celica virgin, so if you told me the sky was red so-to-speak I'd probably beleive you :P

Just in case the details got lost:

a swap of tranny from 89 GT to 87 GT-S?
swap the front fenders, p/s door from 89 to 87
atl, and anything else i can salvage from the 89 to the 87
plus advice on the brakes to look for...

Once again I want to take the time to thank all the mods, and contributors to this forum...great work all

Cheers, Rob

You can swap the tranny but the ratios are diff from the GT to the GTS. Not an expert on that but go to http://www.st162.com/forums/index.php and surf. Someone there did the swap and IIRC, they said the liked the gearing a bit better.

Front fenders and doors are the same; the interior panels have diff detailing but fit is no issue.

Most of the other parts are swappable, too many to list. Just check them against each car.

thanks for the reply, and i appreciate your input...I'll look into that thread you left

this is where I'm at atm...I have the 89 GT in my possession, and I have to wait until Tues. to pick up the GT-S. Once I have both, it's go time...hopefully the tranny issue won't hinder the project too much.

Again thanks for the input

Rob
