Gen6 '94 Celica GT...wtf

Hey, I just picked up another 94 Celica GT and cannot get the cig adapter to work. Normally it wouldnt really matter but I basically travel for a living and I need it when Im on the road for days and thats my only way to charge my phone and laptop and such (unless I stop at a sketchy parking lot in the middle of the night and find an outlet outside...which ive had to do with this car).
Anyway, Ive checked the fuses, replaced the cig adapter fuse just to be safe and I replaced the original adapter with an aftermarket universal one. And it still does not work. When i use the cigarette lighter part that came with the adapter it gets red hot...but when I plug anything else in it does not work!

Does ANYONE know what this might be?? Even if you can give me an idea of something to check I would appreciate it SO much...cause Im driving from MI to OR in a couple days and I would rather not have to hit up those sketchy parking lots! Thank you!!

check your mobile charger, see if its got a light on it, if it lights up its not the charger, 99% of chargers have a fuse in behind the spring loaded button thing

also have you tried to ram the charger?

get a continutity tester and check the voltage, that could be another problem but I doubt it

Other possibility is try cleaning the inside of the cig lighter with alcohol (CAR OFF, PLEASE) using a q-tip or something, really press to get any grime on the edges
