MSP vs. GT-S

i am a little curios gt-s owners. i dont race much on the street but recently had a gt-s pull next to me at a light reving for a race. so i abliged and off we went from green. gt-s got the jump....not to worry. it was not much of a race for me. i pulled away rather easy.

oh....i am a stock msp and the 2003 gt-s had body kit and wing with exaust and some stickers.

im just wondering what the deal is. the guys sounded like he knew what he was doing. (didn't miss any gears; pretty smooth all the way round) stock msp (me) has 170 at the crank and the gt-s has 180. also the gt-s is much lighter. so is there something i am missing out on? i even have hesitation (just until the mazda ecu flash arrives)

so anyway that is my kill story and question
thank

I'll tell you this my almost stock 89 GT 3SFE celica whipped a 2002 GT-S by 5 cars I got him off the jump and in the long run. I grinded 2nd going in and he barked his tires thru 3rd and i was jus pulling away. I mean the new celicas suck @$$ if you ask me slow and crappy!!! Cause I know for a fact the guys car has a ECU upgrade, Racing Plugs and Wires, Cold Air Intake, and Cat Back exhaust. I have only straight exhaust and a K&N Filter and I was jus walking. Considering my 3SFE hasnt been beating by a 4cyc yet I think I am doing very GOOD!!

It might have been a GT, and it might have been a GTS with the manumatic tranny. If it was a 6spd GTS with a decent driver it should've been a good race.

Despite the weight disadvantage, the latest MSP has a tonne more torqe than a GT or GTS.
