Gen5 Vendor Check

I'm looking at a couple of companies online for a motor, so I have some questions: Japan Direct, and Risingsunengines.

Anyone ever use any of these companies for a replacement engine? Any complaints?

Secondly:

They're quoting me a 2.0 in place of the 2.2 thats in there, supposedly its a direct swap. What all is entailed in that? Do I need to change the ECU/harness? These are Jspec engines supposedly, so I'm assuming yes. Anyone got specs on the 2.0's? I don't want to lose the power I have, but I don't want to go crazy and upgrade to a turbo motor or anything like that. I just want a basic, drop in and go swap.

I'm being told anywhere from 800-1000 shipping included. One company, the more expensive one, includes a new timing belt, water pump and front seals, on a TESTED and QA'd engine, the other doesn't mention that at all. I'm thinking going with the more expensive tested and qa'd engine with the new seals up front, since thats a pain in the butt to fix if its leaking once its put in. (the engine from that company comes "ready to run".)

So, if you've used them, or know someone who has, any comments, complaints, criticism's or other concerns...let me know?

Thanks

Sup denver buddy.

I bought a couple engines for my two 1992 and 1993 celica. I bought the 5afe 1.5L engine. These engines both came from japan and had a confirmed 40-60,000 miles on each of them. The aluminium was corroded a little from the boat ride to america. I got the engines in less than a week to my place of business.

No complaints, One engine in my car is still running great. The other car was wrecked and the engine was pulled and is sitting in my garage with the rest of good parts. I'm looking to transplant the engine in something else.
