Post 2001 GT-S Reverse Question

Hi,
I own a 2001 GT-T with a manual trans. My question is; does anyone else have difficulty shifting into reverse? If you don't shift slowly (by this I mean push the shifter left so that you're not in 1st, than pause, than shift up for reverse) If I don't do that and becareful, it's as if the gears are grinding and sometimes it doesn't catch. It acts perfectly fine if the driver is aware of this. But I didn't know if anyone else had encountered something similar to this with their celica.

Thank you

I drive an 05 Corolla XRS which has the same engine and tranny as the Celica GT-S and I have the same problem sometimes. Its probably just something with the way the tranny is built or something. Or maybe just need to change the tranny oil or something.

Ya..that doesn't seem to make a difference. It will still act weird unless I am very careful when I shift.

I just take it slow when i go into reverse. I also make sure the car isn't moving so there is less of a chance to have gears grind. You get use to it after a while, and then it becomes less and less of a problem.
